Why Zlatan Might Last Longer Than Naira Marley In The Industry
The Nigerian music industry this year so far has been exceptionally competitive with the impact, commitment, input, and controversy introduced by Naira Marley and Zlatan.
The level of dominance these duo have in the industry this year is second to none. This is the first time we are having 2 street artistes popping and making it without one affecting the other. For instance when Slimcase was popping, there was no major match, when small doctor was popping, no one was. and so much more.
However, criticisms keep increasing by the day as many question the talent and efficiencies of these 2.
Questions like:- Won’t they also end up like the Shaku Shaku crooner, Slimcase?, If Zanku fades off today, will they still be heard? Will they still be relevant in 2020, as we now have likes of Fireboy, Joeboy and Rema already popping as well?
Answering all these questions rhetorically in my head, one thing kept re-occurring in my thought as to the longevity of Zlatan‘s career, as much as I try pondering over that of Naira Marley, Zlatan was still the favorite to stay for long.
Why Do You Think It’s Zlatan?
Talking about street credibility and overall buzz in the music industry this year, it’s still incredibly difficult to pick the better artiste so far this year between Zlatan and Naira Marley.
Today we will talk about some of the reasons why I think Zlatan is a better artiste than Naira Marley and why he will be around longer than the Marlian’s huncho.
 Song Composure
In terms of song composition, Zlatan has been more of a good singer and rapper than Naira. Zlatan mostly doesn’t talk much in his songs but most of his songs are things you can easily relate to considering how he started.
Reflecting to some of his hits, there have been some critics strictly pointing to the fact that he repeats some of his words more often in his songs. He is more of a talker but the beats he uses are always dance-able. Naira Marley to me seems like an advanced Slimcase. But Chill will he be this relevant without his EFCC ordeal?
You know what they say about those who see the good in everything happening around them? Zlatan is good at jumping on trends and he always have plans to make it appealing to you even if you don’t support it. With this, he was able to creatively innovate the Zanku Vibe which took over the Shaku Shaku trends then “thumbs up”.
Naira Marley is that type of artiste that will rather stick to his “Yahoo ni babalawo, EFCC, Wire, Pussy, And Ass” pucnhlines mixed with some Lamba’s to make it appealing to you all but the seling point is the Marlians that are always ready to take it up but some days, we will get tired of these lines and we have to listen to someone else who has something new to say.
When you talk abut understanding controversies, Naira marley can start one. He is always ready to blast any or everyone who at the slightest chance crosses him. The issue of Kaffy, Simi, Ruggedman, EFCC, and so much more where what he started himself. So good tho but would you believe Zlatan gained more than him from those controversies? (argue with you keypad)
Zlatan has a way of making bad contents sell and you have no option but to accept it. Lets not argue about it joor. Take his “4 days in ekotiebor” “Bolanle” Tacha” “Yeye Boyfriend” songs for instance. He knows Nigerians like free things. Giveaways were what he used to sell off those products you hated initially. (i bet you have those songs on repeat)
If only we can undestand how much zlatan understands the music game. In terms of wanting what people want, Plans for your content, and features Zlatan is no match to Zlatan. Undoubtedly the most featured artist in the industry since 2018.
We all know Naira is an artistes who chooses to do his things himself and get his desired results. He has few features but all his singles have been top notch. WHat do you expect from the rave of the moment. Sticks to a Producer (Rexxie) which might be a reason why they both weren’t nominated for this year’s Headies award in any category
The fact that Zlatan socializes more with people is an edge for him. Check the likes of Davido, Olamide, Burna Boy, Zinoleesky and so much more. There is more to doing what you do best and hanging out with those who can obviously give you a cushion when things are going sour. In terms of affiiation and recommendation, they can always give you a push. Obviously seen in occasions more often as well.
Because he is a Marlian, he has to maintain being a street artiste who rather leave a chance to go wild with anyone who crosses his path, with this act, it might seem difficult for people to want to socialize much with him.
However, after all said, I remain a Marlian and would love to see Naira Marley around more often. He is exceptionally a great artiste.
